The project deals with the assessment of photosynthetic and structural characteristics of leaves and biochemical and structural traits of wood in the fast-growing and micropropagated hybrid poplar regenerants after their transfer from in vitro conditions to the experimental field plantings. Leaf physiological performances and metabolic profiles of cell wall components of wood will be compared between individuals raised under in vitro organogenesis and through root sprouts. The aim of the project is to obtain brand new knowledges how the process of micropropagation affects wood structure and macromolecular properties of wood biopolymers in trees grown under field conditions, as this research area is not fully explored.
