  2. Rationalization of mapping during consolidation of forest land ownership and determination of forest state by modern methods of terrestrial and aerial survey.

Rationalization of mapping during consolidation of forest land ownership and determination of forest state by modern methods of terrestrial and aerial survey.

The project focuses on the application of recent technology for obtaining information about the landscape for purposes of forestry and cadastral surveying, forest management, specific tasks solved within forestry and nature protection. Currently valid legislation does not reflect current developments of contactless mapping technology, thus it is necessary to develop a new methodic workflows with assessment of possibilities for application of these technologies, their optimal combination, in relation to acceleration of solving the critical situation in actualization of forestry and cadastral mapping (cadastral map renewal in forested areas, land consolidation projects). The considered technologies include modern terrestrial measurements, methods of remote sensing, digital (large-scale manned, low-cost unmanned) aerial photogrammetry, photo interpretation, close-range photogrammetry, aerial and terrestrial laser scanning. Existing research results at the Department of Forest Management and Geodesy in Zvolen show the validity and justness of solving this issue to eliminate lagging behind the developed countries of Europe as soon as possible, enhance the competitiveness, of our country and increase the speed of maps actualization and consolidation in forest lands, as well as in the rationalization of special research activities in the examination of the landscape.
